Lunge Love.

You KNOW you LOVE lunges! C’mon, own it! So they may make you sore and they may make you cranky (and they may make it hard to get on and off the pot), but they kick butt – literally! Lunges work the booty, the back of the leg, the front of the leg, down into your calf and all the way up into your core. NOW do you love them???

But here’s the problem – many moms find lunges can cause knee pain. I NEVER WANT YOU TO DO EXERCISES THAT CAUSE JOINT PAIN. Muscle burning/soreness/fatigue is one thing, but joint pain is never okay during exercise.

I get a lot of questions related to lunges and knee pain. Lunges can be tricky when it comes to protecting the knee and perfectly executing the exercise.

I wanted to talk about this here, as I know most of you are working out at home and you don’t have anyone watching your form (form is EVERYTHING when it comes to lunges!) Also, I really, really want you to get the most out of your workouts with injuring yourself! Injuries are SUCH a bummer. But, they are very preventable if you train smart.

I was in Cali recently with my good friend Rick Kaselj. Rick is a fitness professional who specializes in corrective exercises, muscle imbalances and injury treatment/prevention. He owns and operates www.ExercisesForInjuries.com. He ROCKS! He really knows his stuff. So I was grateful that he was willing to take some time to chat with me specifically about knee pain and lunging.

Knee pain with lunges can be related to poor form, past injury, muscle imbalances, tight muscles, weak muscles or just not putting your weight in the right part of your foot. So if you have any pain or discomfort with lunges, watch the video above and see if Rick’s suggestions can help you out. Also, check out his program, Knee Injury Solution for more exercises and stretches that will cure knee pain and keep those knees happy and healthy so you can lunge yourself silly (you know you wanna!)

If you have any other nagging aches and pains, Rick probably has a program for it. He has a ton of helpful programs to help folks through frustrating injuries. You can find all his programs at Exercises For Injuries.
