How Lora is Losing Baby Weight

By |

Day 3 in Hawaii. I’m in the kiddie pool with one of my favorite little ladies, Georgia. Her mom, my good friend Katie, is sitting on the edge of the pool beside Georgia. Georgia goes to jump in the pool and holds on her mom’s hand to make the 10 inch leap to the sandy bottomed pool. She lands, pleased with herself and climbs out to do it again. She does this a few times and then says to Katie’s extended hand, “No, I do it on myself.” She jumps into the pool without assistance and comes up squealing, “MOMMY! MOMMY! I did it on myself!”

This is very much like the email I got from Lora last week. Lora has never had to fight her weight – until she had a baby. Familiar?

This email I got from her last week pretty much said, “SARA! SARA! I did it on myself!”

“Here’s my story in a nutshell:

I was always a very slim girl, my normal weight pre-pregnancy was 130 pounds and I was a size 2-4 in clothes. Two years ago, I married my husband and at the age of 28 we had our first baby. Nothing about the pregnancy was easy, I encountered a lot of obstacles, one of which was major Edema (water retention), and then rapid and sudden weight gain from about 6 months on. I was so out of my element, my weight surged to 203 pounds!! And this was the week before I gave birth…I was miserable and not to mention un-recognizable!!

After my little girl was born, I was desperate to get back into my clothes and feel good again….having always been slim, I never knew what it was to have a weight problem and let me tell you, I have a new found respect for all those women out there who have been constantly battling their weight. I tried every diet and trick I could think of. Everything that worked in the past (to shed those 5 odd pounds now and again) did not work and that’s when I stumbled onto your website and the rest is history!

With lots of exercise and portion control, I managed to reach 150 pounds from 203 and I still have 20 to go…. We’re talking only 3 months post partum. In total I gained 73 pounds my entire pregnancy and am working so hard to get the last 20 to come off.

Thank you Sara, for your inspirational work and for your blogs that always give me the motivation to keep going, It’s not easy, there definitely isn’t a magic formula (although I wish there was…) Hard work, consistency and determination are key.

I’m finally starting to feel more like myself again, 3 months later. I hope to reach my goal within the next 2 months 🙂

Thank you SARA!!!”

These are the best kind of emails I could ever ask for. There is nothing like hearing a mom finding success, happiness and EMPOWERMENT in finding her fitness and reclaiming her body.

Success is great when you can turn around, look back and say, “LOOK! LOOK! I did it on myself!”

There are three things Lora did here to ensure her success:

1) She had a plan. She got the 6 Week Pregnancy Weight Loss Program and used it as her blueprint so she didn’t have to second guess her path to her goal.
2) She was consistent in her execution. She dove into the program 100%. That gave her 100% return on her efforts.
3) She knew there was no magic pill, but there is a magic combo: Diet + Exercise + Time = Weight Loss. She didn’t just focus on exercise or just on diet. She changed both of these variables, increasing her exercise and decreasing her portions over time. This is the only way to have long term weight loss success.
4) She was determined. A strong mind makes all the difference. Lora was focused on her goal and kept plugging away. I’m sure there were some days that were better than others and she had to just forge ahead, keeping that final goal in mind.

But when you are starting out toward a goal, that jump can feel like a blind leap of faith. Just like Georgia, Lora tried a few things, was not having the success she ultimately wanted for herself and she knew she need to jump a little bigger, just to see what would happen. A big splash in the pool and 50 pounds later, Georgia and Lora can see the excitement and transformation that comes with giving it all you got. Ok, maybe Georgia can’t completely identify this yet, but she’s pretty fired up about the whole thing, I promise!

Join me in congratulating Lora below. And if you have a story to share, please send it along to us. We’d love to brag about you!
