Since being pregnant I have about a 10 minute span in which I go from kind-of-hungry to don’t-talk-to-me-until-I have-food-or-I-may-hurt-you. If I’m not on top of having food prepped and ready to go Read more »
My colleague and friend, Dustin Maher, recently wrote his first book, Fit Moms For Life. I’m not going to lie, I’m totally jealous! Some of you know that writing a book is at the TOP of my bucket list. It will happen. Sooner than later. And I’m so grateful to awesome trainers like Dustin who are paving the way, telling real stories about transformation and change for real women and moms.
I’m a big fan of stories, which you may know from reading this blog. I love telling stories and I love hearing other people’s stories. As a trainer, I have come to see that behind every woman who changes her body is an incredible story of transformation. When you look at weight loss or lost clothing sizes, that is just a small part of the whole story. When women change their bodies and their health, they inevitably change everything about themselves – the way they walk, talk, think and smile. It’s overwhelming and remarkable to witness.
Dustin has worked with thousands and thousands of moms in Madison, Wisconsin and many more online. His reach is international and his stories touch moms everywhere. In Fit Moms for Life he gives tons of advice about how to change your body, how to get strong, how to get lean, how to lose weight. Within each chapter are multiple stories of women who did all that, and in the process, changed who they are at their very core. Here are a few of my favorite stories:

My old roomie, Natalie, sent me a great recipe the other day, a little something she stumbled upon while trying to find a healthy snack for herself and her son, Henry.
Before I share the recipe, I have to share a little about Natalie. Just to embarrass her. We were roommates before we each got married. In fact, my husband (then my bf) was the one who told her husband (then Natalie’s co-worker) to “make a move” at a party at our house one night. He did. Way to go Kevin! Natalie is definitely a keeper.
I tried to find photos from that night. This was back when I was much more wild. I stayed up past midnight and, on occasion, you could find me doing jello shots. There is a photo Read more »
There are really, truly no “Ab Workouts” that will give moms a flat belly. Moms get flat bellies and lose belly fat by making changes in their diet and doing the right kid of exercise (NOT ab workouts). Tips for a flat mommy belly Read more »
I’ll admit it – I’m a TOTAL mushy sappy lady! I cry over commercials and Hallmark cards and all sorts of other random things. But I’m mostly touched my music and people. Like a photo montage set to music – it’s all over. Or a pregnant flash mob….
Last week one of my Facebook friends/moms/photographers, Candace Wilson, posted an amazing video. Candace photographed her best friend’s birth and then created this: Read more »
